Sanji vs Queen

Queen is the perfect opponent for Sanji this arc.

With the exception of Kuroobi, Sanji's opponents are never the 100% serious type the way King is.

Mr2, Jabra, Absalom and even Wadatsumi, all are quirky characters with various running gags.

Queen is the character who sent the Flying Six after Sanji in the flower Capital before even knowing his identity, the one who singles out Sanji from the rest of the SH's based on his high bounty after talking about eliminating the top members of the SH crew and recognizes his family name, talking about Judge and hinting at him having a connection to Sanji's father that will be explored by the end of this arc.

He mirrors Sanji in certain aspects, with them both being blondes, smokers, shown to be love struck by Hiyori as well as mourning her death, have had the most extended plot interaction with Big Mom from both crews, and if his "Sumo Inferno" game and the wrestling move he pulled on Big Mom are anything to go by, Queen could also be revealed as a Kenpo user, and the strongest martial artist from Kaido's crew.

Also Queen and Sanji are both technology users, but currently at opposite ends of that spectrum contrasting each other in that regard.

Queen is someone who embraces technology to such an extent that he has modified his body to the point where he can pull an Inspector Gadget and strech out his neck like crazy, while Sanji just received a technology based power up going into Wano, and is still reluctant in relying on technology in combat.

Also Queen is someone who has modified the inside of his body like crazy, becoming a full on cyborg, while Sanji goes the different route wearing a power suit instead.

The "both are blonde and smokers" part feels really weak. I don't think these physical traits says a lot. If you look at the fighters you mentioned, Sanji didn't have much in common, appearance wise, with any of them.
The tech part is something that, even if I agree with it, and think it makes sense, Judge playing a part in it is something that feels really weird. Wasn't Whole Cake supposed to affirm Sanji as someone who wants nothing to do with the Vinsmokes. He again and again telling Law, Hawkins and Drake to NOT call him Germa, saying he is JUST Soba Mask, and Oda wants to keep hammering at this Judge thing? It makes sense, but it feels weird.
Unless Queen tells Sanji that he was the responsible to develop that tech that Judge used on his wife, and modified the little shitties. Which would piss off Sanji a lot, since his mother died taking all those medicines to make at least Sanji not be a modified little experiment and be normal. That's a scenario where I would actually like this Vinsmoke drama still playing a part.

I agree, i would not care for them by themselves, but packed with everything else these could be intended design choices for Queen.

My early take on the Judge thing is that Queen was part of the same scientific team as Vegapunk and Judge before the Government disbanded them, and that Queen offered himself to be worked on as the prototype for the Pacifista Project.

That's how he became a Cyborg in the first place, and then when they parted ways he continued to work on himself and modify his body.

I think part of Sanji's journey is accepting that not everything that comes from Germa is bad by itself, and it's more of a matter of how you make use of it. I think that's also why Germa's past was barely explored in WCI, i believe their ancestors that ruled over the North Blue were good natured, and that's what eventually caused their downfall and why Judge sees emotions as a weakness. That's going to be the true Legacy of Germa that Sanji will continue once he learns to accept his roots.

And that's true for the Germa tech as well. Sanji will learn to accept the Raid suit as something useful, something that can help him protect his friends while also being able to dedicate himself to his cooking. Something that he can rely on his friends and crew members like Franky and Usopp to upgrade and make better, so that in return he can do better with it in supporting the crew.

I believe that in the end the Germa Kingdom itself will become the largest fleet of Seafaring restaurants, the ultimate version of Zeff's dream that started with Barratie. Instead of mercenaries that destroy countries and seek to conquer once again the North Blue, Sanji will lead a Kingdom that can cover the All Blue and reach out to all the Blue Seas, feeding those in need, so that they don't have to experience the starvation Sanji did as a kid alongside Zeff.

I think he's envisioning the scenario you proposed as Queen yelling from the sideline about Judge and Sanji dropping everything else to go after him, instead something that develops after Queen is already in Sanji's way or attacking his friends as i believe you probably intend it.

No I understand Sanji quite well. He hates them, but he wont beat up someone for associating them with him.

- Vito called him Germa multiple times. Sanji never beat him up
- Drake called him a Vinsmoke, Sanji didnt care to fight him properly.

If Sanji hated them so much that hed fight a random dude for associating them with him, then he would have burned the RS, walked his ass to Germa and literally beat the crap outta all of them.

Unless Queen instigates the fight and wants to actually fight Sanji, then Sanji wont fight him. What logical sense is there to beat someone fanboying over you

Well I can see it as a mid-high difficulty fight, unless Sanji uses his best attack straightforwardly. Page One showed to be a great tank, he is a solid veteran level character in my opinion. :)

Well.. if Oda decides Usopp and Nami aren't strong enough to take out Ulti and Page One, than Sanji should be the one to deal with Page One since that fight was off screened and we didn't see the end result.You can make a cool fight out of Sanji vs Page One but people want to see Sanji fighting a commander, intact now people want Sanji to go to the roof because Zoro is there. It's ridiculous.

Sanji reacts with rage when his friends talk about him being a member of Germa, how do you guys think he’s gonna react when an enemy like Queen starts talking about it? It legit would be entirely in-character for Sanji to sprint through a battlefield to start a fight if he heard someone like Queen say “ohh, that’s Judge’s son over there.” Especially since it’s being Judge’s son that’s his real trigger, more than anything else, since it ignores Zeff being his real father. It’s Sanji, he’s prone to hot headed decision making, it’s why he’s in the state he’s in currently.

Then the Judge statements are irrelevant. Since Sanji is already fighting Queen for some other reason. Queen is not just gonna make Sanji fight him over a few statements about Judge.

Sanji vs King, then aerial battle is it. and since i think King is faster, maybe Sanji can develop more on his Coo.
