Chapter Discussion Sanji is saving Momo

#22
Well he needs something to redeem himself. And Queen's up next to the crucifix part.

He's a good shout, but I can't help but think Oda will want whoever rescues Momo to be someone who'll make a real impact upon the Beast Pirates and Orochi by doing it. Don't think Sanji, or Nami for that matter, can quite pull that off. Luffy, Marco, Kine'mon (or Denjiro), Yamato, even a wildcard Hiyori, they're the ones who would have the biggest effect.

This chapter basically tied Sanji's arc in wano to big mom. I doubt Carrot, Nami, and Shinobu will be able to escape from a yonko by themselves.

Anyways, either momonosuke saves himself via his devil fruit, or Luffy will save him. Sanji just doesn't have the same type of relationship with him that luffy has in order for the moment to be meaningful.

There is two way of looking into the issue:

From emotional perspective:
  1. Luffy said that he will definitely save Momonusuke. So Luffy is the most likely one to save Momo.
  2. Nami/Carrot/Shinobu trio are actually trying to save Momonusuke. So they are second in line (how they will save him from Kaido is another matter entirely).
  3. Kin'emon et al. are responsible for protecting Momonusuke. So they are third in line. (They may protect Momonusuke with their lives i.e. the tragedy that closes Act 3).
  4. Zoro has made some connections to Momonusuke. Plus Zoro couldn't save Yasuie, so it can be thought of as a second chance for him. He is fourth in line.
From logical perspective
  1. Sanji has invisibility, so can easily get inside the crucifixion area and save Momonusuke.
  2. Law has "Room" which he can use to easily teleport Momonusuke from crucifixion area.
Now, Oda always gave more emphasis on the emotional aspect of the storytelling over the logical aspect. Thus Sanji saving Momonusuke is less than likely (I place it at 25%).
