Apparently he can conjure blue flames as well.

That's a good question. I joked about it being a Hawk but it's most likely a Gryphon's head. Maybe people like @Shiroyru can answer why Shanks is so in love with his sword.

I mean if Vista can conjure flower petals
Zoro can conjure Ashura/KoH(not sure)/Dragons
Then why not mythical fiery bird.
