As we all know, Shanks grew up in West Blue

He even knows where his Hometown is.

Yet he was in Roger's Crew as young as 9.

This brings a question of how he joined Roger's Crew in the first, why did he leave his Hometown for the Grand Line and why did Roger accept him on the crew if he rejected Pedro due to his age. Noting that Pedro as a kid Should stomp Kid Shanks due to Mink genes so strength isn't the reason.

It’s possible he found Shanks as a baby and raised him like a son. By the time Roger met Pedro, it was probably a month or two before getting to Laugh Tale, which may have been too late to him.

Either he was just bullshitting with WB, or:

A) He was technically born in West Blue but didn't grow up there. Maybe he brought the sake to remind WB of his noble/CD family history. I don't think he actually says he "grew up" there.

B) He adopted a new hometown once Roger disbanded the crew
