Questions & Mysteries Shanks is One Piece's most complex character Season 1 (Why is Shanks a devoted character?)

#22
Shanks was the previous owner of the hat....Roger saw something in Shanks that handed him the hat....
I don't believe this was the case at all. It's mostly a headcanon assumption with nothing in the manga backing it.

We know for sure Roger wasn't wearing the strawhat when Shanks was just 1 years old. And lord knows when before that he stopped wearing it.

We also then see the same Roger saying that it'd be his unborn son that'd finish the work he started, rather than it being the guy who according to you he saw something in.

The Hat more than likely had nothing to do with "oh this kid has potential" when it comes to Roger-Shanks.

Roger could give the hat to someone else..When we talk about hats, even wb remember Shanks..They remember Shanks with his beloved hat..Just pay attention to Garp's words..When he meets Luffy, he first says that Shanks is a great pirate..Has he not proven his potential?
Shanks steals the fruit..Why exactly does he steal this fruit?
If he eat this fruit, wouldn't he be able to become joy boy?
These are questions that only Oda knows..Without a doubt, Shanks is the great pirate at the center of the story..And I also admit that he is not as powerful as Roger right now

Probably this man can explain this symbol better than me @ArturCantSpeakJapanese

Oda even paints Shanks' hair gray in the manga and associates him with strange places. Shanks is clearly a complex character who is always one step ahead of others for reasons.
Like said they are traitors. Not friends of JoyBoy.

And Shanks is just not developed. He barely shows up and doesn't have his history explained. Oda just keep adding mysteries to him. This is not being complex is just not being explained.

I'm talking about the common symbol, they might have even followed Joy Boy's orders..Otherwise, there is no reason for Oda to use exactly the same symbol and specific numbers for all of them

For me, secrets mean the complexity of a character, and what's more interesting is that no one can predict these secrets:goyea:

Like Kaido was so complex until Wano because we didn't know nothing about him. Once we learned we know that he is not complex at all.
Kaido's character was based on strength, he was never complicated
In fact, Oda did not put him in the same room with the Five Elders, nor did he force him to steal the strangest fruit in the world, nor was he one step ahead of the others before every incident...Shanks is a complex and mysterious character who was created for advertising and to increase sales. The purpose of Kaido's existence was the strongest in the story.

Strangest frui in the world you are talking about Nika? So your headcannon says that Shanks new that was Nika DF and not that he got lucky stealing a DF from marines.

Kaido was based on strength after we learned about his past. Before that he was told to be complex too.

People used to think Kaido knew about One Piece, DF's as a whole and a bunch of things and ended up knowing barely nothing but a tale about JoyBoy.

And this was the only fruit we saw that Shanks stole and also his ship has the symbol of the sun

How did people give such comments?
In the early days of Wano arc, people mostly debated whether Kaido had Haki or was just a thick monster, which again was related to Kaido's power.

Huh? Never heard of anyone implying that Kaido doesn't have haki. Ridiculous. People was always saying that Kaido would get better once he had his flashback because we would learn a lot of things that Kaido knows.

I'm talking about the beginning of Wano and the first fight between Kaido and Luffy where people believed that Kaido was using Kairoseki....After chapter number 1000, Kaido talked about Joyboy once, and 20 or 30 chapters later, we found out that he doesn't know anything...But Oda tries to hide the secrets of Shanks for more than 100 chapters
