This is also incorrect. The most likely answer is that it was simply Mihawk seeing if Whitebeard truly was the strongest like everyone claimed he was. It wasn't him admitting inferiority or anything.

There's literally no reason to think Sengoku is an unreliable source. He had cipher pol reports that figured out who Ace's Mom was, and is literally from the old days himself. He also can see WB get stabbed by Squardo like everyone else and says "the strongest man in the world is attacking". Was he talking about Marco?
