General & Others Should Shanks have let Kid kill his fleet?

Why did Oda create this situation though? Why not let kid blow up the fodder when Shanks isn't there? Shanks was about to leave but conveniently bot met somehow. Same for BB / Law.

Too many plot conveniences get tiresome and dull.
