Break Week So far Is Gear 5's Cartoon Shtick Improving the Luffy Vs Kaido Fight or Ruining it?

To be honest, while reading these two last chapters there were times when I kind of began to wonder about whether or not I was really reading One Piece drawn by Oda or some fanfic made as a joke by someone else, especially because of those eyes appearing even in serious characters, which look totally insane and out of place, and not something I expected to see in One Piece.
I've gotten used to it though, and all the cartoonish stuff is really making the fight seem more interesting than before.

I think that the new, goofier tone is a good thing. And the powers themselves get my approval so far for being fun and interesting.
That said, the whole reveal about Luffy having not eaten the rubber fruit is pretty stupid and is a major mark against how tightly written the series previously was. So overall, the events of recent chapters have been a negative for me.

I am starting to really enjoy it. Now that I see more it more or less is Luffy being Luffy. Just dialed up to another level as the chapter title suggests.
In a way when you look at Luffy, you could tell just from his character he was meant to be a mickey mouse kind of mascot. Now this seals the deal in his fighting ability mirroring that embodiment of classic comic/cartoon flare.
I also think its Oda idea to allow himself to have the creative freedom the same way Luffy does.

It's definitely ruining it.
The fight prior to this had reach some tension level, something that was incredibly lacking for all the raid.
This is supposed to be a war but doesn't feel like it all, we don't feel any risk in it.
The only time we felt a little bit of risky was in chapters 1008-1009-1010 in the Rooftop fight, when Luffy got defeated a thrown into the ocean and 1042-1043 Luffy vs Kaido and Luffy's 3rd defeat.
This now has put away anything and I don't really know how this fight is gonna end, if it ends in a a toon scene like 1045 I'm gonna lose it.

I love One Piece, both the seriousness and the comedy, but i feel like the comedy needs to be used with great placement
Yes, Luffy has always been goofy both in and outside of fights, but this is on another level of goofy, it's extreme, and it's not only Luffy it's also turning Kaido into the joke
Kaido is like the third longest villain built along the series that hasn't been defeated yet (Behind Blackbeard and Akainu, Big Mom got defeated already), it's been like 10 years or some shit since Oda has been building up the Kaido threat and when we get here, this is it? the final clash is Luffy fucking around? with powers he got out of nowhere?
I just don't understand.

Ruining it imo. Yes, I know that it's "funny" for a lot of people, but we are talking about a fight between two guys that really hate each other. Luffy wants to make Kaido pay for what he did to Wano and the citizens of wano. It shouldn't rlly be like a freakin' Batman movie but come on, how can we take it seriously?
