Kaidou despite being incredibly strong was mentally very weak.

Kaido was planning suicide because he was bored of his life. He literally wanted to start greatest war the world has ever seen and wanted to attack world's strongest pirate crew in WBPs only with king.

Someone who commits suicide just because they are board is mentally weaker. I don’t think this requires explanation.Though on top of this he was a drunkard prone to mood swings specifically when he was Drunk.

Kaido is semi awakened with his more beast like from but never fully awakened because he was never capable of dying. Dying is likely the secret to awakening zoan which is why kaido is obsessed with suicide

Soul pocus is likely awakening because instead of using her own soul she is capable of using the souls of others

If he really wanted to kill himself , he could have simply drown himself.

Kaido is the opposite of these things. His mind will never catch up with his devil fruit. Big Mom is likely in a similar situation, being an evil manipulative person instead of someone like Brook.

We have been told what awakening is. It is not some mystery. Awakening is when a characters mind and body catches up to their powers.

Therefor Kaido and Linlin didnt awakening because their mind and body didn't catch up to their powers. There's no more to it than that

You can go into detail on this with kaido at least, because his fruit has so much history and symbolism behind it that kaido himself is an inversion of.

All of the other confirmed awakenings make sense like this.

Luffys is obvious. Law is one of the world's most skilled doctors and him awakening op op is also obvious. Kid is all force and aggressively attaching himself to or driving away others, in his personality and also his devil fruit. Lucci is a bloodthirsty killer who has fun in the hunt. Kaku is the worlds most obsessed with giraffes man. Katakuri is tough, but soft, and has a sweet interior, and he always sticks to his family. They all line up perfectly with their devil fruits symbolism

Marco a doctor with healing fruit don't have awakening. Same can be said for other Beast pirates.

Marco is not confirmed to be awakened but even so one could argue he goes against the phoenix's nature by being a doctor that struggles to prevent death, while the Phoenix itself is about death and rebirth
