Some of my issues with god of war ragnarok

#1
Alot of the things brought up as plot points in gow 4 just didt get resolved like how he even got to the norse world or athena, And what's her involvement now

This norse series honestly needed a trilogy
There was honestly way too much setup at one time for one game to handle everything

And this is kinda why the original trilogy benefited more from the expanded non numbered entries like chains of olympus or ghost of sparda
We got to see nearly every god

But in the norse games
we only have 1 and 2, that's it so your kinda limited with the sources you can include

Not to say, they needed to include every god or every character present but it's just a huge missed opportunity to skip out on characters like hela, bor and so on

And on the topic of the athena thing

It really kinda proves there was going to be more then 2 games
Afterall why hint at her ongoing presence in the narratove
if they had no plans of her

I do agree that if this is the entirety of our time with the Norse pantheon then it would be a bit disappointing since we’re still missing a pretty large chunk of the pantheon and mythology.

But they also kind of shot themselves in the foot since a lot of the missing mythology is tied to Loki (Hela is Loki’s daughter for example) and Atreus being a kid messes with that.

Not the biggest issues though imo.

Also, I think there IS stuff with Athena in the game. She is the only one who’s been to the afterlife of the gods and returned (the premise of the mask sub plot) and Mimir tells Kratos that Odin heard a voice call out to him and tell him about the mask. The mask also has Greek lettering on it.

If I’m being critical, I’d say that biggest problem that comes to mind storywise is probably the characterization of Odin (too much telling vs showing - yes he killed Brok but this guy is a genocidal maniac and he never felt that way to me). Baldur and Zeus were definitely better villains overall.

The biggest problem gameplay wise is a lot of the minibosses kind of suck, do like 1 or 2 moves then run away, repeat. To highlight that, the berserker bosses are notably worse compared to the Valkyries. The triple berserker fight in particular is one of the worst bosses I can remember.

That being said Ragnarok has way better main bosses than 2018 and much better enemy variety overall which in my mind more than makes up for it.

Yea
He pretty much just asks for peace at numerous points and kratos refuses

Which is bad when you consider, kratos now in the new games is supposed to be peace loving and not wanting conflict regretting his violent ways from years past during his days as the ghost of sparda

Even if we assume that voice who spoke to odin was athena, I still dont think that was enough.
they shouldt of hinted at later appearances of her in 4 if within the sequel, they had no intention in following up on her actions

Kinda disagree with the voice in the void being athena
as odin says something about it being at the start of creation if im to recall and b athena exists in the mortal world we see her confront kratos in 4 meaning she cant be within the void

My issue has always been the camera angle
at higher difficulties, enemies can just strike you from behind and since you cant directly see them due to the camera angle, You can often get blindsided

Would of been nice if there was some option for camera settings like to change the angle and what not, To your convenience
If super mario 64, can havea more flexible camera then a game in 2022, then that speaks to a larger problem with how they are handling this series as of now

I kinda think the bosses kinda lack, that back and forth action
baldur's fight in god of war 4 had

Thor at the start seemed to have it
but there was alot less unique combat applications eg hitting modi out of the air with your axe when he does that aerial move
