Character Discussion Something weird about Kaido

#1
Havent you guys see this? Think about it. Kaido said that oden, shanks, whitebeard and roger are great people.

what does he mean about it? Whitebeard actually didnt took the pirate king title even tho he could and whitebeard died for his crewmate. Oden dance like a fool for the people that kaido and orochu kidnapped, oden got caught from kaido’s attack because oden thought they took momonuske. Lets say he knew that roger surrendered himself since he was there on roger’s prime.

So does kaido really know good and evil? Does he know what he was doing was wrong? Is he completely different from bigmom? Is there a chance that yamato can change his father’s way?

If you are a bad person and you know that what you are doing is bad and you like doing it, why would you want to change it.
Big Mom I can see have a change of heart (it would be amaizing if at some point in the story she decides to sacrifice herself for the sake of here family), but Kaidou?

And do note, Kaido considers Roger, Oden and Whitebeard as great people because of how they died, not how they lived

With great he means the ones closest to the One Piece or PK title.
The greatest Pirate is the Pirate King.
Roger was the Pirate King.
WB was Roger's equal, he knew from Roger where the OP was and he was seen as the unofficial PK after Roger's death.
Xebec was Roger's most dangerous rival so he was close to the pirate king as well.
Shanks knows where the one piece is and was in Roger's crew so also close to the pirate king.
Oden was with Roger for some time as well and thus close to OP at some point too.

Basically every Pirate that once was or currently is close to being the Pirate King or the Pirate King himself is seen as great by Kaido.

Every villain thinks he is actually a hero. By the way we dont even know what drives Kaido to do what he does. He is such a mediocre villain so far, thats the truth.

Maybe Kaido can simply understand more than the sum of parts. For whatever faults and he does mention soft hearts for a few of them, they are men worth respecting.

Lol Kaido doesn't think he's a hero. Hell, Luffy and Zoro don't consider themselves heroes, and Law is an overall very decent guy who doesn't even get sticking his neck out for citizens so he is the same at least.

What i mean is that the villains justify their action somehow, even if they dont call theirselves heroes.

I'm glad you didn't mean it literally. That is the correct meaning of the term, but it still doesn't describe Kaido in that he doesn't justify his actions. As you say we aren't really told what drives him. It doesn't get into the concepts of right and wrong in his mind. We can assume it's greed because he wants the one piece, and we can also assume it's glory from his numerous statements on death and killing though. We know that he prides himself on being the strongest and that he was very upset at the thought of having his SMILE army ruined, so greed and glory also associate with strength to him.

Whitebeard probably beat his ass on the Rocks's but he wasn't like coming after Kaido to make his life miserable like probably most of the stronger crewmates did.

Whitebeard was probably this stoic strong pirate sitting in the corner drinking sake. Kaido probably wanted to try himself out. WB repeatedly told him to fuck off until he got pissed off and beat him.

There is also a possibility that Kaido respected WB's dream.

You know the majority of the Rocks probably dreamed about being the great pirates. Spreading terror and shit and then you had Whitebeard sitting alone and answering Kaido with a smile "I just want a family".

Maybe even someone like Kaido has a soft spot for Whitebeard.

good and evil does not exist
what you mean kaido wants to destroy the world. Its a matter of bilief tho in onepiece. Because in their era, their biliefs is more imporantant than their lives.

I gotta agree with him. Like i said before in luffy’s era their biliefs are important than their lives. Luffy shatters their biliefs and for them its like as same as death.

yes kaido probably speaking about strenght here. But what if theres more to it, i bet kaido knew what luffy did before, destroying enies lobby, what he did to marineford, saying infront of kaido that he will become the pirate king etcetc. I think before and after luffy hit him he was reminiscing this stuff . This is probably those kinds of moments where oda put a clue about a character personality or something else more to it.
