It's obviously Kiringham's ability, as stated on the last page. And considering the love-centered dialogue, rather than Fear Fear or Nightmare Nightmare DF, I'd rather expect it to be themed around emotional trauma.

It’s up in the air really who it was. Kirin are supposed to have fire and lightning powers already hinted at. Nightmares or fears have nothing to do with Kirin in mythology, it’s completely the opposite. Seems Sommers is doing the nightmares, Killingham most likely went to go kill a bunch of giants down at the boat they are taking which is why he was gassed and they said he did a good job.
