Sommers vs Zoro isn’t ending next chapter. Zoro fights almost always end after Sanji’s and Sanji still doesn’t have CoC.
What’s more, Zoro doesn’t even have a plot point this arc outside of facing Sommers, as Luffy is already getting support against Imu from Loki, Hajrudin, and Usopp.
Therefore Oda will more than likely give Sommers a power up so that he does not die instantly. But what? As we know despite being a weak fighter, Qilingham was able to use his powers to create a fake version of Zaza, which is giving trouble to the giant warrior pirates.
Likewise Sommers should similarly be able to create a fake version of a god with his powers. Which one? Most likely, the Hellfire Serpent.
Sommers’s powers are tied to snakes. He creates snake monsters out of his vines and even seems to be able to enhance them with Omen. The logical strongest version of this power is creating the Hellfire Serpent.
A weak character can create a strong monster via their powers. Kanjuro did it, so did Qilingham. Sommers will be no different. This will make it to where merely controlling CoC won’t be enough and Zoro will actually need to surpass himself to defeat Sommers.
This makes logical sense as we saw that King of Hell Dragon Damnation wasn’t enough to overpower Omen+Gram and it would be anticlimactic for Zoro to win this fight by simply blitzing Sommers.
Much like with King, Zoro will destroy Sommers’s strongest creation and kill Sommers in the process.
