Pg's Thoughts: Me personally I'm in the somewhat category at this point, It doesn't feel like the straw hats have much to overcome when it comes to the Blackbeard Pirates. Maybe Oda will do something to gas them up again but Im not worried about the Top 6, and I think that's the problem. If the stronger members of the crew have nothing to overcome then the tension significantly drops.... Remember wano? We were wondering how Zoro and Sanji were gonna overcome King and Queen and what powerups they would need to do so. Even Luffy Vs Kaido we wondered how it was going to end, and while the execution of those fights in the manga weren't great the build up was definitely Great. Maybe this is the reverse, bad build up but phenomenal execution?

What exactly was wrong with the execution of the fights on Wano? Outside of some sloppy build up for Luffy, Zoro and Sanji’s power ups were narratively satisfying and emotionally well set up. Two of their best fights individually

I think shiryuu and Catarina are lame. Also I got a weird feeling all the strawhats are going to get flashbacks during their fights related to their opponents. Like maybe their opponent reminding them of their old selves before they mat Luffy. Like shiryuu being about his own interest and goals reminding Zoro of how he was alone being a bounty hunter for years.

Not interested in it at all tbh, I think Oda realized that the SHP vs BBP wouldn't be that interesting and thus switched to Imu and the Gorosei at some point

Blackbeard is designed to be the reverse of Rocks. Rocks made alliances with incredibly strong pirates to form the strongest crew the world has ever seen, but he failed due to infighting. Blackbeard instead of making alliances is stealing all the top powers in the world for himself. The result is BB will individually be stronger then Rocks, but his crew will be much weaker.

But I think that’s fine because BB’s crew was never meant to be major enemies for the straw hats like some believe. Straw Hats will fight them but as part of a battle royal where they will have stronger enemies like Gorosei, HK, Marines, RHP, and so on to deal with as well.

I was more hyped before oda showed their fruits which have been pretty lame…
Pretty much this. Also, we all know the fights against Blackbeard Pirates will be rushed and unfocused like the fights against the Beast Pirates anyway. :pepecroc:

Lol, no chance to feel hyped about SHs vs BBPs anymore, dude. Only Luffy vs Teach for the PK throne will matter, the rest will be negligible.

I have little expectations for this.

With the way Oda rush the story, I think we don't have enough time for a proper SHP vs BBP matchups.

- SHP needs to fight BBP because they're the antithesis of SHP nakama/family value.
- But Zoro needs to fight Mihawk, who is in Cross Guild.
- Not to mention, Chapter 1 promise of Luffy making a crew better than RHP.

So we don't have time for 3 different proper matchups. If anything Oda will make a brawl between all 4, so all 3 things above are fulfilled.

Pretty hyped about it especially BB. Imo oda will reveal Yami DF as a dark god mythical DF. BB is supposed to be final pirate opponent for luffy. The fight will be good.

Will be able to compare Kaido with BB.

Looking forward to Zoro vs shiryu also.

Not really hyped for anything anymore after Wano. If we get some cool fights in the future, then that would be awesome, but my expectations are ridiculously low now. Oda prefers to waste panel time on the most un-necessary of characters and I don't think that will change anytime soon, so I'm not expecting much. We will probably get some of the fights off-paneled, some of them way too short, some of them paced improperly because Oda wants to shoehorn fodder characters in between, and Luffy vs BB will probably be full of plot armor bullshit.

Blackbeard pirates are all about hax and trickery. They will are 100% more trouble than the Big Mom and Beast Pirates.Shanks probably has a better crew, but they will probably fall by getting caught with their guards down.I expect Teach and his crew to be cunning and merciless. We are got some good stuff with the Garp incident.

Nope. WCI and Wano were so bad, and post TS in general, that I have zero faith that the story will ever hit the same highs again. This is a Naruto Shippuden situation.

Lack of tension, no strategy, bad choreography.

Ummmmm…. I would say the ending of Zoro and Sanjis fights felt a little abrupt , The Anime fixed all of these things but from a manga perspective they felt a bit choppy. Especially Zoro Vs King based on the standard that Luffy Vs Katakuri set for YC1 fights
