Mono is finally here and it looks fucking great so far.
Where the fuck does this studio come from? They clean a.f.
It was clear that they won't be reaching the heights of Yuru Camp with this one, but ngl this is the perfect delicious side dish to add onto the collection. I will for sure have alot of fun with this one.

Holy shit, what an anime of all time. The final ep makes me go like:

The series has great start for a first episode. It wasn't a slow burn start like most anime do. And the music is AMAZING!
Scarborough Fair is one of the best OSTs that I've heard in a while. Old fantasy anime hits different. Then come episode 2, HOLY SHIT!!!!
Bro, I legit got the Made in Abyss PTSD from this scene lol. Which is funny cuz both anime aired in the same year. I expects this anime to be quite dark but it wasn't as dark as I expected. But it's still sad and depressing anime though.
The animation was quite good for its time. Found out it was studio Satellite and studio C2C (Shangri-La Frontier) works on it. Man, back when Satellite was still good and haven't fallen this far.
Then the story got interesting as time went on and I got confused a bit about the beasts. So the 17 beasts were created by humans and the beasts ate them and turned all the humans into beasts? That's why no one lives on the surface anymore and they live on sky islands instead? Did I get this right?
Surprisingly, I don't hate any characters except that one purple first officer that keeps complains about everything and was useless the whole time except fixing the ship in the final episode. Willem is a great MC, not a cringe edgelord or a wimp or a dumb meathead, he's just right in the middle which is good.
Chtolly (did I even spell her name right lol?), anyway she's a good heroine, she wasn't a annoying tsundere and it didn't take long to confess to Willem, reminds me of Rem's confession to Subaru Lmao. Except Willem didn't say, "I love someone else" to Chtolly's face which is great. They genuinely love each other a lot.
Other girls are great too, I liked Nephren the most out of the girls (best girl), Ithea probably is the best written female character in the series. Rhan and Nopht are great too but they show up too late in the show so I didn't have a chance to like them more than I should have.
Other characters that I like, Grick is my nikka fr, bro's just HIM. The Great Sage is hilarious as fuck, for someone as old as him, he acts just like a kid lol. Tiat is the most precious kid in the show, her knowledge of lizard movies is insane for her age Lmao. Must protect right there.
And I still don't know where the red hair little girl comes from, she's a god? So she's the reason why humanity got cooked lol? I would love to see a prequel series of Willem in his past life 500 years ago before he got petrified into the present with his old comrades and family. Oh and Willem is a great dad btw.
As for the ending, man, when Scarborough Fair plays again, that shit fucks me up lol. I still don't think Willem and Chtolly die though. Cuz the Great Sage's orb has ripples on it at the last minute, so I assumed those two survived at the end, Ren seems dead though (RIP best girl).
Then at the last moment, the baby looks like Chtolly? Did she got reincarnated somehow? Or was that when she was born and she got adopted into dorm? Who knows.
But overall, man, the ending pulls a Darling in the Franxx ending lol. I'll give it a 9. It was a great anime to watch. I wished I could've seen more though. I heard that the anime didn't fully adapt the light novel, so there could be a chance for season 2 but it's been too long so season 2 might not happen. Then again, Blue Exorcist did get a sequel after 7 years or so lol. Fingers crossed.

Scarborough Fair playing in ep 1 and the final ep was a nice touch.
I remember best the couple interactions and moments. The world lore I kinda forgot about it. Although interesting, I feel it was what stopped me from giving the anime a 10, but the romance is definitely an 11/10.
Don't remember about the beasts but the red girl is Chtolly's soul or smth. And yes she gets reincarnated at the end.
We can watch this amv when we want to relive the anime. Best part starts at 2:30
Glad you finally watched it and enjoyed it though. It took two years but all good.
