Garp + Sword fought Kuzan and the BBPs
Shiryu did not fight until he made his appearance, made clear by the dialogue
The other commanders were treated like the trash they are, folded in seconds. It came down to Kuzan vs Garp, Shiryu eventually made his downfall quicker

SWORD are literally fodder, in fact they were a massive disadvantage considering Garp got a sword through the gut trying to protect them.

It was a bloodthirsty Aokiji + half of Blackbeard's crew vs just one wavering old man, insane:crazwhat:

If I were to translate it
"Quit it/Stop/Well/Nah… it’s by joining force we finally got him"
The context is Kuzan rejecting Blackbeard giving him all the credit for Garp’s capture by emphasizing the team instead, he starts his reply to Teach with a "いやあ" (casual interjection to express disagreement) .

When I read that part of the chapter, it was obvious to me Kuzan was lying out of his teeth, and he most definitely did not try to kill garp, so he had to capture garp without accidently inflicting more harm than necessary, WHILST making it look believable that he was trying to kill him, in order to make that kind of statement

Then answer it. Why is it so difficult to admit being wrong in a topic. Or straight up confirm you are bias by saying that the Blackbeard pirates were close in being annihilated by Garp even though neither Kuzan nor Shiryu showed even a glimpse of what they were capable of.
