How so? Especially when he comes off as a energy life form?

Team 1's best hope is win by BFR.
The Miracle is a passive ability, meaning that Gerard would literally enter God Mode the moment they kill him even if Vollstandig was restricted. The reality warping of the Miracle is so overpowered that if they do something that Gerard deems impossible to counter, the probabilities of his success at doing the opposite would skyrocket. It's kind of similar to the Almighty's future acausality.
Hence why Kubo didn't know how the hell he could kill him anymore that he made Yhwach steal his own ability with the power distribution of Auswählen. If they can't seal/BFR Gerard (or Azrael Lille) early on, they should at least figure a way to destroy Hoffnung to make Gerard unable to attack without damaging him (would that even work lol?).

Not many characters are going to beat the Schutztaffel as a group without either having the requisite counter hax or being out of their league. Even then someone like Gerard posses insane reactive growth and can only be gotten rid of via a BFR/something along those lines.
Well just nicking the Hoffnung results in significant damage on said opponent who nicked it:
Even an endurance beast like Kenpachi was slowed
down a bit with the amount of damage he took
Idk if these Black clover characters have specific hax that would render the Hoffnung’s ability useless, like Adult Toshiro’s flash freezing hax.
I guess Oetsu has anti-Miracle hax
Anyways on a more serious note, might have just been another writing dud from Kubo considering how he was tryna hype up Oetsu in that fight but then he offpaneled it anyways. That whole fight was weird af.

Hmm, depends. If Vanica can grant immortality to the whole Triad, then they cannot loose, the Schutzstaffel lack any way to negate that kind of ability.
Pernida and Askin are the weakest here. Neither can survive Dante's Singulary or Zagred's Demon Swarm. Even if Askin could somehow adapt to their mana, Zagred would easily turn him into a pincushion with physical weapons.
Lille and Gerard are significantly more difficult to put down. I feel that Dante's Singularity can still interact with Lille's intangible body. His intangibility is kinda wierd because his body still reacted when he got slashed, its like he is made of some viscous liquid.
Gerard can be defeated in the way that he died in the manga, if Zagred's Demon Swarm eat up his life force he might be incapable of regenerating as its the source of his power.
