But strangely, they weren't by his side during the raid. And even after that he was only seen with Inbi. It seems Oda just forgot about them.
It's unfortunate that Hawkins' crew wasn't introduced to us in more detail, such as Bege's. Faust in particular would have been interesting. A mink that uses magic ("meowgic") would have been a cool opponent for Bepo. They were never seen again.
Kaido was very brilliant at what he did. He recognized strength and built his forces brick by brick, crew by crew. Even kept Ashura Douji alive for 20+ years in the hopes of one day recruiting him. I'm not afraid to say I'm a lesser man that would have given up many years ago in that spot.

i wish kaido got more characterization
its not too late, considering god valley and the rox pirates, but i doubt oda will put much if any focus on kaido & bm during a certain future flashback.

big chairman L mao if odas way of pushing them to the sidelines is just having them get fodderized in one-twos panels

Anyways, even though we don't see any of Drake's crewmates during his time with the BPs (i think?), that doesn't mean they got killed, especially since Drake (i assume) voluntarily joined Kaido, since it was his mission as far as we are aware. The most obviously likely answer as to why we don't see his crew is that Oda didn't care to show them (which makes sense), but they also could have been absorbed into the countless nameless BP fodder waiters, pleasures and gifters (perhaps even some named ones, if youre up for headcanons). Perhaps only Drake joined the BPs, while the rest of the crew stayed behind (drakes role was as spy and he had no chance of taking on the BPs no matter how many troops he had so it would be way safer for his identity to go in alone, the rest of his crew could have just consisted of support staff such as navigators, shipwrights, doctors, cooks, custodians and also fodder to prove security on his trip through the grand line and into the new world).
We see Hawkins crew (unless theyre just different dudes) during Wano, and he didn't even try to fight back against Kaido, so a slaughter wasn't necessary. I mean, Kidd literally tried to fight Kaido but his crew wasn't massacred, we can see a bunch of them throughout the raid, so I doubt Kaido would target Hawkins' crew for no reason. The same thing I said above about being absorbed into the fodder pool counts here as well.
We can see some of Apoo's crew during Onigashima, plus IIRC we don't know the circumstances in which Apoo joined Kaido, and considering that I'd myself wager that he intentionally joined his ranks rather than needing to be strong-armed in, and thus Kaido attacking his crew would be a completely unnecessary and outright counterproductive course of action.
I don't think Kaido took it personally. Sure he was annoyed because it screwed up his plans but in fact he probably respected Luffy for it - you either try to fight your way to the top in order to live freely just like Kaido himself did or you surrender and live under the tyranny (of Orochi and Kaido in Wano, under Doflamingo, under Big Mom, under the World Government).
There really is nowhere to hide in One Piece - sooner or later the problem is on your door step and when it arrives you better be strong. Kuro for example tried it but then Luffy showed up. Zeff tried it (in part was forced because of his legs) but then Don Krieg showed up. That is why Luffy says his idea of Pirate King is to be the most free man on the seas, and in order to be the most free in a world full of tyranny you have to be the strongest but that is just a byproduct in order to live as you want. Kaido understands this because when he wasn't the strongest he was persecuted as an oni. Same with King or the fishmen.
It's kind of like being a multi millionaire in our world. Most of us work in order to make ends meet, others work and got money but they lack the time. True freedom would be to be so rich (free, independent) that you are free to do what you want and only ever work because you want to do it.

Regarding orochi If you look at yt vid where kaidou cuts orochi there are comments like "I don't like kaidou but this was cool, good" etc because orochi was so annoying
Like Kaido killed Orochi. And Luffy. And Kin'emon. Except that Oden and the old had with Bon chan DF are the only body count of Kaido. And Yamato's mother too.

Has to be someone he met 8 years before Oden die and probably someone that disappeared or got killed before Yamato could ever remember about her.
I discard Big Mom since they have more of brother and sister relantionship and something would have come up with Yamato on that arc.
I discard old hag too because Yamato would remember her.
I also discard Oden's wife because timeline doesn't fit.
I also discard Kunoichi since she was too young and something would have come up on that arc.
Don't have many options. Maybe Stussy? But since she got a child from a loser like Kaido and not a Chad like Whitebeard she didn't even bothered to raise her?
