SPOILERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
These people have been hyping up chapter 1037 for the last 10 days by posting reaction gifs, tweeting and yet no hints, and another bunch of people who're claiming spoilers will come daily even when it isn't going to come, FYU ALL
This spoiler tweaking :crazwhat:

Welcome to the House of Hope
I'd have agreed with you pre Mihawk x Perona duo. Ricardo is awesome, but he's too one note. Kinda needed for his role in the story. Mihawk doesn't need to be. And OP is just silly all around, so stoic characters will rarely stay that way.
Dude. Ricardo is basically a better Mihawk.
The "I'm bored and alone at the top" "I'm waiting for someone worthy".
How he's introduced, how he completely outclasses Ippo on their sparring, how he beats Eiji, how he gets developed later on, etc.
Seriously.
Everything about how Ricardo is written and presented is better than how Mihawk is.
We actually get to see Ricardo giving justice to his title of champion. Mihawk is another case of "people say he's the stronger", but we only see him fighting fodders and an overconfident East Blue Zoro.
Oh yeah. He cuts a piece of ice in an arc where people are creating cataclysmic events.
Wow.......impressive..... :pepeke:

Doesn't help the fact that Oda holds him back so much and he gets stronger automatically due to the normal power creep of the story.

I don't get the use of "better" in this situation. Ricardo is the main character's final obstacle. Of course he'll get more spotlight to showcase his dominance. Mihawk's character is taking a different route. He's not simply "Zoro's goal" anymore. He's developed into a teacher, friend, etc...

Before his arc with Perona and Zoro, it was more of a 1:1 comparison, it's not anymore. Mihawk's moved on from the "It's lonely at the top" archetype.

And OP's tone is very different to HnI. Oda will never keep a straight face on his characters all the time. We'll probably never see Ricardo have quirky scenes like Mihawk's had with Perona and Zoro.
