The only gripe I have with Princess Mononoke is that it propagates a separation of human and nature.
This is an oldfashioned approach.

Sure, Miyazaki wrote this film under the impression of his personal experience with the fast paced urbanization of Japan in his time.

But in reality, there can be no separation between humans and nature.

I also dislike the depiction of indigenous people as a 'dying race'. That's bull. They're not dead.
I always took that as more of a metaphor for indigenous traditions being forgotten and weened out by modern ideology. Australia is bad for that, most aboriginal traditions are long forgotten bar dreamtime stories and traditional art forms (which are being done less traditionally and are mostly only being maintained style wise anyway)

Tbh compared to 200 years ago our connection between nature and human has become very different.

I feel like his approach was hyperbolic
