He usually gives us hints to the truth, though. Kaido's "title" was always shaky, and he had that big gaping scar since his first appearance, and we were told Orochi was a paranoid coward prior to his first appearance.
He does give us hints but they are always vague and easily read in other ways
Like Zoro has a gaping scar and yet I can honestly say his performance against Mihawk is much more admirable than Kaido's against Oden. I mean losing wasn't the issue, it's just the way it played out entirely that was sooooo Scumy.
Orochi's paranoia could've have been read more as Overly cautious than cowardly as well before his introduction since you know, he was actually correct from the beginning. There was an actual conspiracy against him. So that alone gave him the benefit of a doubt for a while as maybe he's just really cautious. But then his performance in the Komurasaki incident tanked ALL leeway given by me. And for other people they held on hope until he was crapping himself when Zoro attacked him. Some other people still believed he could maybe do something in this flashback but nope, he's pure fodder. FODDEROCHI

Orochi got fans every villain got fans
But there's a reason why Doffy and crocodile are the most popular villains... they have massive Fuck boi energy... Oda draws them as sexy guys with bad ass personalities and back stories and powers specifically so that people like thme on a surface level... its their actions and such which are made evil so counteract all that drip Oda gave them
