Is it a blunder? I mean You need haki to make your sword not break apart if it's a low quality sword. Was Zoro using haki in this fight then? Like was Zoro eBen trying at any time during this whole situation

Well that's the question too! The manga shows him drawing the blade and then shows the cut building. We don't see the moment of the slash, and if he were trying to play it cool, he wouldn't have used haki until the last second.
I still think it's kinda lame of Toei to introduce a sword breaking for no reason bc it just raises questions. It was an unnecessary thing to add to the anime in a really cool scene.

Mehhh... I mean in real life swords to do break regularly in samurai fights so this actually makes the fight more realistic... I don't think anybody actually cared
