I thought he would be the best antagonist the moment he stopped Luffy from transforming into Gear 4. He was really the last saving grace from that arc.

Although Oda did make him a Luffy fanboy, I thought his character was pretty good overall. Doffy and Crocodile are still better antagonists tho

oda had katakuri do things that allowed luffy win
he essentially became an idiot
pinned him down, stopped him from transforming into g4 to go on a donut break........


the worst thing a villain can do imo is be incompetent
and thats what katakuri was made to be cause if he really wanted, he should have dusted luffy. great character arc tho but as a villain I just cant rate it.
