He's obviously not going to have a serious fight right now. He's just repeating the role that Kuzan, Kuma, and Fujitora played in other arcs. He has to show his face, impress everyone, and then for some reason leave.

If that reason is because Shanks is also around, then that's very appropriate. What's all the fuss about? Why sell the house and check into a witness protection program? Not sure what the big deal is.

The only part of Ryo introduction that worries me is that at some point we will have to get a Sabaody parallel. What I mean by this is Straw Hats successfully fending off an incredibly strong opponent who's chasing/attacking them to show the growth they had.

Some part of me is worried it might end up being Ryo.

I am a Naruto fanboy, and there were a lot of great moments in the war arc but overall it was really bad. But as bad as the Naruto war arc was, it is still much better than Wano. Some great moments where Madara introduction, Naruto's mom resolution was great, Garaa's epic speech to start the war, Itachi and Sasuke resolution, Guy opening gates, lots of great moments but overall there was a lot of sloppy writing compared to it's previous arcs.

Dude, the War arc really isn't that bad. Did you watch the anime or read the manga? In the anime the fillers make it worse but in the manga its very well paced. I don't think there's really any bad writing besides the kaguya stuff, and even some of that is excusable.
