However, I *am* jumping to that conclusion based on how Oda’s largely treated his female characters in the past...I would LOVE to be proven wrong, and you’re right that we shouldn’t just assume he’ll fuck it up, but I personally need to see it to believe it.

Sure, the Flying Six project more as warm up fights for the Straw Hats and company, so they don’t NEED to be super substantial. It would just be cool to see a female in Kaido’s crew that actually matters - we haven’t seen Ginrummy since Zou (when she barely did anything), and Speed was already punished for her association with Tama. After WCI, when we had an abundance of female characters (Smoothie/Amande/Compote to name a few) that ended up doing precisely nothing, I’m a bit jaded.
