I have always imagined that elbaf is connected to the white sea via a world tree and there is a sky island above called asgard Where Odin and Loki and co would be. Also matches up with what ganfall said in skypeia about there being 2 ways up to the "White sea" one is the knock up stream and the other he mentioned was "The highpoint in the west".
