Not necessarily. I mean every league follows the same setup of 8 gyms and elite 4.
Different leagues barely overlaps each other.
(Sun and moon is an exception).
Same Ash journey with 2 different people every league.

Almost every league setup is same.
But to understand all the movies you gotta watch all the leagues too.

Sirfetch'd. Regular Farfetch'd doesn't evolve, but a regional variant of it does. This is the evo. And it's legitimately good btw.
