Yeah Kochikame ended right before reaching 2000 chapters.

Meteor Gin also passed 1000 chapters but only about a quarter of them were in Jump before it moved.

OP would be the 2nd manga to reach 1000 chapters in Jump. It's actually pretty crazy to think we're getting chapter 1000 this December-ish....hopefully

It was one of the OG series from Jump probably. Jump itself was probably created by some old Yakuza geezer and he told Jump higher-ups to keep the series until the Author decides to end.
