Yea he has a cool character and does cool spy shit. But all those cool points are eviscerated when he acts like such a simp who’s a liability to the crew at several times. And yea he has character but decides to do dumb shit like beat Luffy or not fight Kalifa or search for whores in war.
He’s strong but he’s clearly below Jinbei Luffy and Zoro even with the Raid Suit. He’s smart but he acts retarded. Like come on Oda, at least make him have some sort of character development.
Yes Sanji has a great character, arguably better than most if not all the strawhats (the main cast in OP) until it doesn’t matter 
Luffys character is so much richer and consistent, Luffy is a conventionally flawed person whereas Sanji is garbage on that end.

Nami is garbage?! Lol what? Nami is brilliant character who is much better than Sakura, Orihime etc. She is not just beautiful female character with tits, that someone called her. But she is well written character, with not ordinary personality. Unlike Sakura she didn't have problems with herself. She never tried to be someone else. She is self confident girl, that have her own goal. Unlike Hime she is not just crying girl, she is great at physic and other science. She is doing her job perfectly. She is smart and have her own style. Nami easily could be MC, like some other SH, and her adventure will be interesting to read. Even gags with her have much sence, than for example Sakura,who beat Naruto without reason. In Nami's case after surviving hell she kinda didn't know how to show her emotions, that's why she is kinda boyish girl. Before time skip she was easily number one in OP as female character and in thoudend time better than any other mc female chatacters. After timeskip, she became worser as any other SH character, with exception Brook and Usopp, but she is still good chatacter. She is brave when she need to be brave, and strong enough to do things that she has to do.
While except that she got great character development: from girl who hates pirates, she became a pirate herself, from girl who hated fishmans, she even forgive Hachi and was ready to give any amount of money. She always was great character, and your trashing her just proves her greatness.

Now if we talk about Sanji...one thing could describe him with ease - Sanji is cool. Litteraly, this guy has his own style. He is smart, his mind build in different way than Luffy and Zoro. He could sneak in to the enemys base being uncaught. Plus to that he is skillfull cook, who could all chances to be called as best cook in the world.
Beside that he has interesting personality, he is not just another character who is copy of someone else. Even his fighting style is unique. But with that coming his gag part of personality, as all other characters in op world. Now plus to that even his character development is different from others, Sanji has some personality problems, but that doesn't mean that he is bad character, it made him deeper. Case of fact that his family called him a failure, Sanji created his own codex of rules to became a perfect man. It's not easy to understand him. But except of word cool, you could describe Sanji with word "independant" . Sanji is cook, so he is chsracter which opinion should take seriously. Like could poison whole crew...soon pirate ship, he gain the most respect. That let him being most stuborn crew member, case he is the one who vould decide things on his own, and no one able to stop him. He is Prince, he is Hero, he is Best cook, and one of the greatest characters of whole One Piece
