Tbh Oda can make King as strong as he wants, we haven't seen much of him yet, so he could hype him up to insane levels.

The issue, for me at least, is not King’s level but the fact that he has no relevance whatsoever in the war and in Zoro’s story.
Marco can defeat King and then go fight Kaido to have the Momotaro’s reference (it is not like Marco needs to be at 199% for this to happens). There is absolutely no need storywise and character wise for Zoro to be the one to defeat him.
In « the formula » Zoro is always fighting someone that no one else, at that given time, can beat which make his victory really important for the mugiwaras but King can be defeated by Marco so why Zoro beating him is essential for the mugiwaras?
