Absolutely. Every scene was captivating, and his little gimmicks were amazing, most of which he did by himself on the spot, like the constant lip licking, it was done because he would get hungry because it takes a lot of time to take off the make up and the lip balm was strawberry flavoured iirc. And later on it became a quirk for him.

One of my colleagues saw Joker few days ago. He is a casual watcher and he thinks Joker is a prequel of TDK that explores Joker's past.

So, I guess he thinks Ledger's portrayal is similar to Phoenix's.

For me TDKR is number 3. TDK is deffo number 1, but I feel like Batman Begins edges out TDKR by a bit, however even the "worst" of the trilogy is much much better than some superhero movies.

Of the trilogy. iirc he was supposed to appear in the third movie as well, and be the villain there too, but Ledger's untimely death didn't allow it. Truly a huge loss.

I agree. Batman Begins is better than TDKR. But TDKR was very good. It needed more Comic-book correct Bane and Talia.

But back in 2012, I was actually looking forward to TDKR as the movie of the year. I didn't care much about Avengers.

It is still my favorite super hero movie. The story, the music, the image, characters etc : a very unique movie for me, I took a huge slap in the face when I saw this movie
