Well, to be fair. It's speculated that Kaido is from Onigashima originally. And it's an island that can be seen from Wano itself. kaido himself was an apprentice. Meaning a NEW recruit. So, having Rox visiting the place is NOT farfetched. Specially if he visited Onigashima and recruited Kaido. Specially that Wano as a country is more prominent of an island to visit than Onigashima.
And if by chance the poneglyph that Kaido has in his possession now existed in Wano or Onigashima during that time long ago. Then, with Xebec looking into the taboo subjects may actually also prove of the idea that he visited/passed by Wano somehow during that period.

Kaido was the LATEST to join from what I understood. Meaning that Rox recruited the likes of BM/WB and maybe even Shiki and so on on Beehive. However, Kaido joined LATER as a new rookie apprentice. At least that's how I interpret it. I could be wrong. Who knows, but I feel that the original old senior members were formed BEFORE Kaido joined, and kaido joined them later at a different time. And not all of WB/BM/kaido/Shiki/Captain John, Ochoko...etc joined at same place. I think some joined at different time, and Kaido imo as an apprentice should have joined later and not at the time the crew was established and created. Let's not forget that Marco himself stated that WB was with Miss Bucken MORE THAN 40 years ago. If that's the case, The crew of Rox was created more than 40 years ago. I think Kaido wouldn't be called apprentice if he was on the crew for more than 3 years. Again, I could be wrong haha
