Right?! Luffy trying to square up to 3 Admirals right in front of him and acting so recklessly in Marineford pissed me off lol. I know he was worried about Ace about to die but the problem is with these Shonen MCs, they don't realise how much PLOT ARMOUR they have and it makes them seem more insufferable/obnoxious/selfish/dumb etc and such due to it too.
He was completely right in Sabaody for sure. He's been too reckless post TS and Zoro even called him out for immediately at Punk Hazard which I appreciated but hes been way too reckless vs Kaido especially and its pretty much a literal miracle hes not permanently dead right now.
Thats it! It felt just like a Fairy Tail version of Conquerors Haki! They made him look so intimidating especially in the anime and Gildarts actually became a real menace and threat in that moment. Completely agree with what you said.
Kaido hasn't even shown to break anybody's wills as far as I remember, Orochi was doing far more heinous stuff to others and so did Queen but Kaido has just been mostly a brute.
I would have loved to see him actually break the Supernovas wills and they realise the reality of going up against a Yonko. Luffy should have had that with BM and WCI given whast happened but especially with Kaido beating him multiple times and even killing him effectively too.
Gotta say though, I did really enjoy the writing with Killer and the tragedy of his situation and how much it upset Kidd and such too. How he and his crew are handling it.
killer and kid are underrated plot wise. i don't care about strength
but kidd did realized the pain of that. completely giving up and coming back to udon losing all hope.
Luffy wasn't even much scared whitebeard island tilting.
I Understand luffy being a careless and reckless character but marineford was really too much for him. he was just pebble stone among the big shots. ace fear was right on point. he would died if not because of plot armour.
fairy does the friendship shit again and again but that moment of gildarts vs natsu changed my mind about fairy tail.
Luffy still havn't realized what it takes to go up against a yonkou. no death in the raid is absolutely ridiclous.
even fairy tail went into 2 years time skip to protect themselve from a threat.
that's I tend to incline towards side main characters like gray and zoro more. they just on point and understand what they are up against. will doesn't work everytime.
Zoro shouting at luffy in punk hazard is so underrated and people forgotten about it already. gray fighting against erza for letting natsu go attack zeref at the start of war was similar where gray was correct in going against that decision yet erza said don't you believe in him. like wtf. she changed the topic to something else. zeref is last boss battle. going up against him in the first war was a reckless move.
Shounen Manga just provide too much plot armour as probably kids watching it but mens our age prefer seinen manga things. llook at berserk, hunter x hunter (thou being shounen manga had adult stuffs), attack on titan biggest example. In attack on titan it was levi. pretty reasonable everytime not driven by emotion.
hunter x hunter killua kept gon under control. gon was not even ready to abandon kite. killua did it. he understood they were outmatched.
if fairy were to fix this. it has the potential to be the greatest manga with no hatters.
garp himself said they can't take on two legends come out not injured not even marineford whole navy couldn't pull something that sort. and luffy won against kaido and bigmam probably a bigger threat than whitebeard and rayleigh and came out with no deaths and no major injury.
gildarts himself was nerfed in final war against august and took reasonable measures. shanks took correct measures to stop the war.
reasonable characters are so well written unlike reckless main character.
