Once the Uchiha decided to stage a coup, there's really no way to get around the fact you can't trust'em. Even if you negotiate something fair with the Uchiha, they've shown to push their own interests at the expense of the village.

I can't not see how that wouldn't backfire for Konoha in the long run. They dug their own grave and Danzo took necessary actions to secure peace for the Land of Fire & Konoha.
