I think it's fair to expect Coby to be Luffy's equal on his way to becoming PK, but as his destiny has grown to incorporate godly elements, by the time Luffy fulfills the promises of JB and Nika, Coby would be nowhere near him in terms of power.

Coby is pirate Luffy's rival.
Coby is god Nika's fodder.

Nobody is really equal to Luffy. His past friendly rivals include Smoker, Kid, and Law. So I expect Koby to get a similar treatment.

Given how Luffy will be God tier, Koby is 100% surpassing prime Garp to even have a similar gap to Luffy as Kid or Law did in wano.

None of these characters have Kobys Haki feats

We know what Oda is going for, but he's been pretty lousy with showing Koby's evolution.
When he and Luffy met, Koby was a nobody.
In W7, he was a few steps behind Luffy combatwise, but already on his way to gaining power.
We've seen what he's done with Garp and SWORD. Next time him and Luffy meet, Koby might just prove to be a challenge.

Being on the same double spread does not mean they are close in power at all. Imu isn't around Sabo's strength who's around Buggy's strength, get real. And Koby isn't a real contender for the OP anyway, since he has zero poneglyphs

Koby likes Luffy, yes. But he is aware that Luffy is a pirate and that they might have to clash in the future.
