These guys are the contestants for the one piece:
So what are their reasons for going after one piece?
1) Luffy; Buggy; Teach = they just want to become the pirate king
2) Shanks = we still don't know his true purpose, but as he said in the final of wano, he wants to steal the treasure
Oda give more prominence for the 4 yonkous, this imply that they will get further than the others
Koby = he understands that the future of the world depends on one piece. Because it's so important, Koby doesn't want to let any pirates get their hands on the treasure. Not even Luffy.
Kuzan = The fact that Oda chose Kuzan in this image implies that Kuzan has no intention of let the treasure to Blackbeard. We don't know his reasons yet. But what we know about Kuzan is that he is moved by his justice. Vegapunk said that who finds the one piece will decide the fate of the world. Maybe he is interested by this reason.
Imu = he doesnt want anyone to find the treasure, one of the reasons is because if someone find the one piece, that person will discover all the truth he wants to hide. But there is others reasons we don't know yet.
As some people are speculating, the mysterious man who looks like Shanks is probably a God Knight. It's interesting that Oda chose 2 God Knights. Why he chose 2? I guess the reason for that is because each of these 2 God Knights has distincts intentions. I guess Garling is totally loyal to Imu. But maybe the mysterious guy is not that loyal. I'd like Oda do a plot that someone in the world government is conspiring against Imu to try to remove him from the throne. It would be interesting if this guy is going after the one piece because of that.
Akainu = I don't believe Imu wants Akainu finding the one piece. Because if Akainu do that he will discover all the truth and probably he would turn against WG. I guess Akainu reasons are the same of Koby.
Dragon and Sabo = they just want the treasure just to decide the fate of the world, in other words, save the world from WG
