My prediction, Shanks meet the Gorosei to inform them about a certain pirate that is going to be a biggest threat to both the pirate world or World Government. For example, if that pirate finds One Piece or Ancient Weapons, WG itself along with the whole world would be greatly compromised.
My guess, it's Blackbeard. Like it's one of the most likely possibilities. It also can be about other pirate, a new face to us readers, that is going to be a threat. But, let's say it's about BB.
If it's going to be BB, Shanks from what i've seen, is reckless about his life when the threat isn't much, such as Higuma or Seaking. Even if it costed him an arm, or his head bashed by bottle, he's like okay it isn't much anyway.
But also from what i've seen, Shanks is not the one to be reckless and hasty if there's a great enemy involved. For example when he mentioned Blackbeard to WB.
"I wasn't being careless."
"Ace is strong! I know that. But It's not yet the time for them to meet each other."
From these scenes of meeting WB with both King's intimidation but also bringing delicious sake, from his meeting with big names such as Gorosei themselves, i have an impression that Shanks is a really strategic and tactical person. I can even call him cunning, you get the meaning. His crews arent the ones to always play fair since they're pirates, he hindered Kaidou from arriving in MF by bribe or smooth talk or force, and this may also Shanks' unknown strategic maneuver that played a part in fate of the world, as he said when stopping Akainu.

So if BB is a threat to both Shanks and WG, is it possible that Shanks intend to borrow something...or someone from WG?
For example, Vegapunk and his resources.
Vegapunk is also an endgame big player, and he possibly knows about the cases like the unique condition of Blackbeard that is capable to eat two DFs. Following that up, is it possible that Shanks will borrow Vegapunk to find a way to stop BB's Devil Fruit hunting, by technological means? If Vegapunk knows how to insert a Devil Fruit to an object, he may know the mechanism to do the opposite, separating the DFs from BB's body. Shanks act as the muscle to weaken BB, Vegapunk act as the brain to rip the connection of BB to his DF-cheating method (the black cloak? The unusual body?), and Shanks can finish BB. At least that is the plan of Red Hair.
And to further increase his chance of success, what better way for Shanks to come to Mihawk's Island to offer an alliance?
"Hey cool guy, BB must be stopped since he has something evil and he plans to this and that to the world. A great catastrophe is prophesized...i sense a disturbance in the force... Tl;dr, form an alliance with me."
"If you slow me down i'll kill you, Red Hair."
"Yeah whatevs. Let's get this prick first."
Just like BM allied with Kaidou is a turning point in the story, how about this alliance between Red Hair and Hawkeye to topple Blackbeard?
This may open the exciting possibility of at least two branches:
- SHP vs RHP+M where Luffy vs Shanks happens at the same time with Zoro vs Mihawk.
- complete RHP+M vs BBP fiasco where Shiryu will face the WSS. Heck we may even see Red Hair+Mihawk vs BB+Pluton (even more speculation based on Pluton's name derived from God of Death/Underworld fitting BB's darkness theme).
How do you think about these two possibilities? Would it be exciting for the story if Shanks borrow Vegapunk and allied with Mihawk this way, for this purpose?
