General & Others The existence of nuke-like explosives somewhat breaks the military logic of the One Piece world.

Kaido’s basement is literally jam packed with looney tunes bombs and nukes. And apparently just one or two of these can be powerful enough to temporarily KO/stun someone like Big Mom.

Why weren’t explosives like these ever utilized by top tier organizations previously in the series? Why didn’t the marines or the Whitebeard Pirates employ large scale explosives against each other?

Why is so much emphasis put on numbers and individual executive fighters, when literally flight + these bombs would likely result in more military dominance than even having multiple Yonko calibre fighters.

A war would be over quickly when you let it be decided by bombs and explosives.
The wars and battles shown in modern stories such as One Piece do a bad job at mimicking actual modern wars.

A story that is meant to be character driven will use characters that are ridiculously strong and essentially 'gods' in their own universe.

You could say that the storytelling of wars is not going with the times.

I also don’t understand why Oda puts so much emphasis on the numbers in forces when basic COC exists.

Only Kaido has those. Weak fodder like Larines and Shitchibukai don't
You don’t think the organization with Vegapunk and the most advanced science facilities in the world has high powered explosives?

Because nuke bombs can’t even kill a Yonko who’s suffered severe internal damage that is equivalent to a giant hole several times deeper than Onigashima’s size.

They can be easily handled as Yamato did it just by freezing them. Admirals put up a large haki barrier to stop Gura Gura from destroying HQ, they could do the same for bombs.

Against a large Yonko or Marine force with numerous DF users and haki barrier users. It is relatively straightforward prep to guard against bombs and nukes when you have looney tunes powers and force field shields. Bombs are useful and surely adds to firepower but not the deciding outcome. More riskier than a whole group of controlled Zoan users or infinite biscuit soldiers or allied forces with unknown powers.

They could have done that ages ago. But they didn't cuz it's too dangerous. Just like how Japan bombs the Pearl Harbor, the Americans using nukes not once but twice on Japan's two most important cities. Same thing applies, you don't want to bomb a place knowing that you would get bombed back.

Someone like Usopp could shoot them before they reach the target, good for ambushes tho.

Wars are all about strategically gaining the upper hand on the enemy and catching territories. Imagine if the war between Luffy and the Yonko was a multi-arc, territorial strategic battles spanning over different islands where the SH and their Allie’s fight to catch different islands making alliances with smaller countries/pirate crews which culminates in a big final battle in Onigashima
