General & Others The existence of nuke-like explosives somewhat breaks the military logic of the One Piece world.

That’s just bad writing I don’t care

Wars are all about strategically gaining the upper hand on the enemy and catching territories. Imagine if the war between Luffy and the Yonko was a multi-arc, territorial strategic battles spanning over different islands where the SH and their Allie’s fight to catch different islands making alliances with smaller countries/pirate crews which culminates in a big final battle in Onigashima
You're not reading Kingdom here :lawsigh:

That's not why we read One Piece. Move on.

We've had nuke level explosives since Alabasta.
Chances are the goverment and all other major military groups have them, but it's a shonen at the end of the day, it's more entertaning for characters to fight it off than to have a nuclear fallout be threatened by one party.

I mean imagine if the goverment's strongest force weren't the admirals but their bomb vault lol

dont even know why it had to be a "Nuke" that fell with big mom, why compicate stuff this way instead of just having one of those big acme bombs fall with her, then we dont have this debacle.
Poor decision from Oda imo.

My idea is that the World Government doesn't want weapons like that popularized because they're the ones who would lose out. The World Government has a huge numbers advantage over other forces but that would get tossed out of the window if everyone was using super bombs.

A nuke would evaporate the entire team of big mom, kaido, strawhats and the rest of the randoms. This was the perfect opportunity for wg to drop the boomb, literally:suresure:
Its kinda ironic that no one uses those kind of weapon looking at what kind of people exists in one piece, kaido can fuck up an island giving enough time, can he survive a nuke tho? dude would be dust.
The marines should have access to nukes at a bare minimum, they have laser technology for fks sake, and they use explosion tech but at a much smaller scale.
Its just oda being a clown, technically everyone and it mother would use nukes vs kaijus like Kaido.

well kaido and big mom are kinda stupid.
but given that more than 90% of one piece population are fodder i can see the appeal to amass such types of weaponry.
the beast pirates have cannons that can one shot ships.
wano produces weapons for the outside world, and doflamingo was selling them in the black market.
germa...pacifesta...ceasar clown chemical weapons...

yamato's ice wall is more durable than big mom :lawsigh:

anyone who can use haki properly can survive explosions.
kinemon cut a massive point blank explosion back at punk hazard.
kaido's dragon breath can obliterate mountains in a split second, but most powerful people can tank it just fine.

I think in this aspect One Piece is very well written;
When the marines just want to destroy everything in an island, they just use Buster Call.
But when they just want to hunt some individuals without involving civilians who are in the same island, then they use people, such as Kizaru, to target them individually.

Kaido’s basement is literally jam packed with looney tunes bombs and nukes. And apparently just one or two of these can be powerful enough to temporarily KO/stun someone like Big Mom.

Why weren’t explosives like these ever utilized by top tier organizations previously in the series? Why didn’t the marines or the Whitebeard Pirates employ large scale explosives against each other?

Why is so much emphasis put on numbers and individual executive fighters, when literally flight + these bombs would likely result in more military dominance than even having multiple Yonko calibre fighters.
Oda needed a convenient excuse for BM being KOed. Giving Law and Kid infinite stamina, giving Law abilities that conveniently hard counter BM, and making BM fight like a retard wasn’t enough in Oda’s opinion. He needed to make BM take multiple island sized explosions in order to make her being KOed more convincing

I think it's good that nukes aren't that powerful in the verse, look Dragon Ball. It means characters are particularly potent compared to the tech in the planet on average.
