Think about it

Poseidon was JB’s friend, she was Shirahoshi’s predecessor. Why would she sink the world?

JB was Luffy’s predecessor. Luffy doesn’t target civilians and hence JB would never use something that would cause global catastrophe.

The villain of the void century war was Imu, but he only had Uranus without the power source, a weapon he couldn’t even use.

So who sunk the world? It was the Gura Gura no mi user, aka Teach’s predecessor.

We know the Gura Gura no mi can destroy the world, Sengoku said so. WB and Teach have caused global catastrophe even without using the awakened power of the Gura. If the unawakened Gura is this strong, what would the awakened Gura be able to do? Chances are, Gura awakening is what sunk the world.

This is why Imu held the bounty posters of not just Luffy, but Teach as well. He’s scared of what Teach will do, as he holds the same power that once destroyed the world, but doesn’t have the same restrained WB has.

You're suggesting that Imu wants to extinguish Blackbeard from history because he has the Quake Fruit and the previous user of the Quake Fruit is who is responsible for the world "sinking"?

I don't think so. If I had to guess which of the following is true then I would choose 2.

1) Blackbeard's predecessor went around making giant holes using the Quake Fruit

2) Blackbeard's predecessor went around making giant holes using the [Ancient Weapons]

It seems more likely that whoever this person was used the Ancient Weapons and not the Quake Fruit.
