Recently, @Kizaruber Eats brought something to my attention: our translation of the Kuja's birthing practices was innaccurate. This is the real translation:
At first, I had assumed the Island itself was cursed (blessed?) to only produce women, and that it was possible for male Kuja to be born outside Amazon Lily.
But, this completely negates that: the Kuja are genetically coded to only give birth to women.
How in the fuck does that work? Well, believe it, or not, there's a canon explanation:
I believe the past user of Ivankov's Horu Horu no Mi, the Hormone Fruit, changed the genetics of the Kuja of the Past, so that they would never produce men via birth.
Why? My guess would be the Male Kuja did something so unspeakable, that the Female Kuja came to despise men entirely.
Wouldn't be surprised if Imu, or even Domi Reversi, came into play here.
The Horu User of the past felt sympathy for the Kuja, and wanted to give them a space where they could heal from their trauma regarding men, whatever it was.
So, the Horu User of the past altered their genetics to only produce men.
Problem: we know from Law that Haki can negate Devil Fruit Abilities. Since we've only seen Law use this power, I'm assuming it's CoC, but that's me assuming.
Haki is Will... One Piece is about Inherited Will... how do children inherit their parents Will?
Semen.
Rayleigh's semen was choc full of CoC, and overpowered the Devil Fruit Ability of the Hormone Fruit the Kuja genetics have been changed by.
Rayleigh's CoC negated the Hormone Fruit's powers, making it so Shakky gave birth to a beautiful baby boy:
Dracule Mihawk.
Shakky was then forced to leave the Kuja and bring him to Hachinosu in a suitcase, so Roger didn't find out that shit Rayleigh did, oooooooooooh.
This is why Oda had Law turn into a woman:
