I’ve been busy with work and exams for the past two months, so I haven’t been active on this site. I was planning to come back after the flashback ended and share my thoughts (God Valley was disappointing Rayleigh, Gaban, Garling, etc. they don’t feel top tier, even though Oda included Kaido jumping Imu instead of Roger’s wings and the Shakky plotline also went nowhere, but that’s a discussion for another time).
Anyway, after Elbaf, we’re heading to the final island where Luffy becomes Pirate King, and after that comes the great war.
This Elbaf arc is the last real chance for Sanji, Usopp, or any Straw Hat to awaken Conqueror’s Haki. After this, the Straw Hats won’t get nearly as much individual focus outside of Luffy. Characters like Dragon, Shanks, Blackbeard, and Imu are going to become the main focus of the story, and the Straw Hats will gradually be pushed into the background.
I strongly believe Elbaf will be the final major power up arc for the Straw Hats especially Luffy, who is already Yonko level with an awakened Devil Fruit and all advanced forms of Haki. During this arc, he’ll likely witness Imu’s power and fully understand the gap between them, then receive one last massive boost before Elbaf ends so he can prepare for Imu after leaving Laugh Tale.
So yeah, Elbaf feels like the final power-up arc for the Straw Hats.
It also seems like the last time Oda will give them heavy focus, because after Laugh Tale, it’ll be difficult to juggle them alongside characters like Loki, Shirahoshi, Dragon, Sabo, Shanks, Blackbeard and even Akainu. With all of that, Elbaf and Laugh Tale will likely be the final arcs where the Straw Hats truly stay in the spotlight.
its also why oda is focusing on making zoro coc top tier which will be his final power (the black blade thats when he fights mihawk )
