Except Ace was created to basically be the sacrifice for Luffy's development and story's progression.
Ace didn't have a purpose at all other than making WB the PK. Something WB had the opportunity to do already and refused. And with MF being WB's last outing, Ace's purpose went up in flames Magma.
But Law is not like that at all. Law was not planned to have a large role. He even surprised Oda by how important he became. He has clear purpose in finding the true history of the world and D that ties him directly to the end game.
And, the fight between BB and Law isn't framed similar to Ace vs BB at all. Completely different scenarios. Law will survive
