G-man Lucas introducing the Midi-chlorians ruined the Force. But that does not mean that leaving the power system as vague as possible makes it more exciting for the consumers. There are extremes--too much; not enough. Oda falls into the latter. He doesn't need Nen's specificity. Hell, even the three distinctions in Observation, Armament, and Conqueror's would be enough if he made it visually evident to the readers which one of the fucking three a character is using. Boiling all down to, "He used haki, which combos dunno, don't care," is not the winning move here.
