The Most Logical Way to Classify Devil Fruits
The entire fandom of One Piece has collectively given up on trying to classify Devil Fruits. It is argued that there is no single way to do it that truly makes sense, but I believe there is. It involves the properties of energy and matter; physical properties, chemical properties, and biological properties, but it also includes a special category that exclusively uses supernatural properties that do not exist naturally.
To begin, we will discuss the concept of Devil Fruits being associated with the concept of The Voice of All Things.
What is the Voice of All Things? (Ooh big ???)
- I will make an inference. The Voice of All Things is related to the Vibrations that Zoro felt from everything around him during his fight with Daz Bones.
- With that said, the Voice of All Things is the ability to perceive Vibrations from All Things including living beings. One of the major applications of it includes the advanced use which allows a person to communicate with other living things through a telepathic link.
- Zoro was unable to do this with Daz Bones himself, but he was able to do it with the blades he created.
- Luffy displayed this ability when he was able to speak to other people. It started with Sea Kings, then Zunisha and Momonosuke, then Law's crew when he was knocked unconscious by Kaido, and then again with Emeth.
- Rayleigh was confused when Luffy explained that he considers the emotional state of his enemy as well as his character when he fights them. This means he can do things like learn to read their mind and as a result predict their movements. Rayleigh himself said he never considered that before and was shocked at Luffy's response.
What are Devil Fruits?
- Devil Fruits are the result of Joy Boy combining the Voice of All Things with Fruits. Therefore, Devil Fruits encompass "All Things".

A) Paramecia = Physical Properties
B) Logia = Chemical Properties
C) Zoan = Biological Properties
The Special Classification
D) Mythological Zoan = Supernatural Properties
Natural Devil Fruits
- The Devil Fruits from A to C in the classification system are what would be considered natural. They only include things which truly exist in the universe as a result of energy and matter interacting.
Supernatural Devil Fruits
- The Devil Fruit classification category D in the classification system are what would be considered supernatural. They only include things which do not truly exist in the universe as a result of energy and matter.
What Constitutes the Association Between Natural and Supernatural Devil Fruits?
- Dreams. The dreams people have are constituted by will. When a person with a powerful will dreams of something, it becomes reality in the form of a Devil Fruit because the vibrations associated with that are integrated with the fruit.
Gods Are Above Logic
- The entire idea behind Gods being above logic has a double meaning. On one hand, it means that the Celestial Dragons do not have to listen to reason, and on the other hand, it means that people like Joy Boy literally do things like break the rules of physics on a regular basis. However, every other Devil Fruit aside from the Mythological Zoan type are fundamentally natural and therefore abide by a certain type of real-world logic. The Mythological Zoan types exclusively do not have to do that.
Notes
- I will be adding to this, but I am a little tired currently.
- Haki itself is a supernatural thing. It is what I consider Life Force energy. Therefore, anyone/anything with a powerful soul/will can end up doing supernatural things. For example Usopp seeing spirits, and Katakuri seeing the future. These feats require specific conditions to be met for them to function.
- If this is not the proper way to classify the Devil Fruits then it's extremely close. I'm not an expert in All Things, so I won't be able to tell you that I know precisely how each thing fits into every category. For example, if someone asked me how Light fits into the Logia category, then I would tell them it's a result of a particle reaction (but that might not entirely explain it).
