All those rounds Kaido won ate obsolete now as Luffy won the last and decisive.
Doesn't matter how many times luffy lost as long as the finale was won by him.
Crocodile won 2 rounds
Katakuri won 1 round
Enel won 1
Lucci won 1
Guess what happened? They lost the last round and that's it! No continuation after.

Luffy get oneshot by Thunder Bagua in Kuri, he also received Ragnaraku in chapter 1009-1010, also knocked outta the island in 1013, but the narrator didnt say Kaidou win.
Dragon Kaidou was incapacitated for a few pages from Luffy's G4 Kong Gatling, and then for a few pages as well in chapter 1010. But the narrator didnt say Luffy win.
So i guess the narrator still knows the true result but he becomes quite unreliable since he revised the result.

Yeah, there was never any expectation set in Kuri that they wouldn't rematch.
Oda made the one exception for the sake of storytelling. Whenever the caption gives us a winner, those competitors will no longer fight. The trick in 1043 wasn't a matter of an "unreliable narrator" because the same chapter showed us that Luffy wpuld be fighting Kaido again. That's why we have a revised ending because now we know that they won't fight again.
Although it seems like some are still misinterpreting what it means.

Actually each time he "lost" he still had fight in him left so ima say no
He was pretty much just temporarily ko'd but still able to stare down kaido and use haki and still able to call for help to get out the water
