Chapter Discussion The reason Luffy isn't moving after G5

Was outlined by Oda already in an SBS.
It's not that he's too tired to move, it's that he knows he's right next to his crew so he trusts them to preserve energy.

WHILE FIGHTING KAIDO:
He's all alone, only he can take down Kaido.
He restarts his heart right there and then and activates G5 once more.

WHILE ON EGGHEAD:
He lands right next to his crew.
He trusts Franky and Sanji, there's no need to waste energy so he just lets himself be carried around.

No I don't care about how he looks if that's a G5 gag, the core idea of the drawback is still the same.

You're right and it's so obvious to anyone not blinded by agenda, Luffy has complete faith in his crew and isn't forced into a corner like he was against Kaido.

He trusts Franky and Sanji, there's no need to waste energy so he just lets himself be carried around.

The reason we are having any disputes at all over that scene where Luffy looks immobilized and about to die, were it not for Franky, is because from the looks of it, the way Oda portrayed the situation, it doesn't look at all like Luffy could do anything about it.

Sure maybe Luffy is still in control and can fight, as the text you quoted from Oda states. However Oda did a really poor job in portraying the situation and making it clear enough to the readers what Oda himself thinks there.

Oda needs to do better ...
