The reason Oda has Sanji lose a lot...

I've had an epiphany of sorts. The reason that Oda has Sanji lose a lot is because he knows what his fans want. Like I mean yeah we want to see him win and succeed and character development. BUT you kinda got to admit to yourself, his character design just looks great tortured. Like some of the WCI emotions, the Viola scenes (especially that one), struggle scenes... Sanji just looks hotter the more bloody or broken he is the way Oda draws him.

I promise this isn't just me having gone crazy from surviving this chapter draught by reading every Vinsmoke Family, Evil Sanji, Torture Sanji fanfiction on archiveofourown. But on the subject of those, those are like the best fanfics for him. Fans like tragedy, fans like torture and Oda knows this when he milks it with Sanji

Some of those fanfics were downright depressing but sooo well written.

Torture arc should have its paypack while Oda didnt give it, so imo its just bad.
