The real reason the Rocks pirates were called the Rocks Pirates was because they were as dumb as a literal sack of Rocks .
Seriously after Rocks got domi reversed and stated attacking his crew and also not to mention grew in size,grew wings and fangs Whitebeard was like "Is that all we are to you Rocks,impediments" The sheer changes in Rocks body should make it obvious that he is being controlled.
Not to mention you cannot even argue that it's like Demon slayer breathing styles where only the Audience sees it but not the characters because massive changes to the body once domi reversed have been called out in universe earlier this arc once the giants got domi reversed during the straw hat part of this arc.
Not only even without body changes if Luffy started attacking his crew then all the Straw hats would immediately be able to tell he is being controlled by an enemy devil fruit user (JoJo's reference)
Also after Rocks died all the Rocks pirates decided to leave and go their own way for absolutely no reason in a way that fells forced and convoluted
Especially considering we saw that the Rocks pirates did seem for the most get along well like with Whitebeard and Kaido being bros
The only major disagreement they had was Kaido stealing Big mom's fruit which is something she still forgave this arc
They had no reason for separating and then separating benefited none of them
If they were still toghether they could have been night-invincible obviously they still would not have been able to overthrow the world Government and we have already seen that Roger+Rocks+Garp+Whitebeard+Kaidos+Big Mom cannot defeat Imu but still
All the crew members they ended getting they still could have gotten there is no reason Kaidos could not have still have meet King,Queen,Jack and the Tobi roppo and the is no reason Big Mom could not have fucked all the guys she ended up fucking to make cracker and smoothies and the rest of her crew.
Whitebeard could still had Had Marco,Ace and the rest of his crew if he dint leave
I honestly fell like Oda didn't plan things out and first designed the Yonko and then said "Hey would it be cool if all the original Yonko were part of the same crew expect Shanks who would have been too young and was already established as a Roger Pirate"
But then the question would be "then why did they split" and Oda failed to deliver a satisfying reason
