General & Others The reason why the Rocks pirates existed

#1
I have a theory that the reason why the Rocks pirates were formed in the first place was as a response to the rise of Roger.

Roger amassed an amazing crew that Rocks had to gather the strongest there is just to counter them, but ended up with an even more powerful crew as a result and aiming higher(the WG)

*Note Edit:

What I meant here was the ROCKS PIRATES the crew not Rocks D.Xebec the man.

Yes Rocks as an individual predates Roger’s infamy, what I meant was the Rocks pirates as an official pirate crew comes after.

So Rocks traveling with Stussy, Newgate and Shiki to Elbaf, that’s not the Rocks pirates, they’re not a crew at this point but Rocks as an individual is still infamous and you could say this is his era

It literally says in the chapter that 48 years ago Rocks wasn’t the captain of the Rocks pirates, meaning they were not a crew yet

Whitebeard in this flashback is 26 meaning Roger was 32 which makes him roughly 10 years younger than Rocks but the Roger pirates were already a crew at this point

So the Roger pirates as a crew predate the Rocks pirates as a crew

The Rocks Pirates were formed to conquer the world; that was Xebec's dream, to be the "King of the World" (Sekai no Ō), it's said by Sengoku in the next page of same chapter above (Chapter #957). Obviously each crewmember had their own agenda (maybe except Kaido, as he was still too young... he could've viewed Xebec as the legendary Joy Boy), much like the BB Pirates.

Roger probably viewed Xebec at the time as Luffy viewed Kaido or Big Mom more recently.

Rocks predates the rise of Roger
So you’re saying that Whitebeard became a pirate before Roger? Because according to this flashback, 48 years ago, the Rocks pirates weren’t a crew yet, meaning Rocks wasn’t an official pirate at that point.

He was probably a king of a kingdom(Hachinosu) and once they discovered he was a D, they denounced his kingship and sent an admiral to capture him

Well Sengoku said before Rogers Era, Rocks ruled the seas and was Rogers greatest rival

It probably wasn't by much but I think Rocks predates Roger at least predates Roger becoming infamous

🤔 you bring up a excellent point, how do they all know each other if they aren't a crew yet?

Was Rocks pirates Oda's version of say the phantom troupe from HxH? They all grew up together? At least the ones presented in the chapter

Probably not, we still don’t know a big deal about them that’s for sure, but if we were to take everything said here at face value, at this point; 48 years ago Rocks, there’s no Rocks pirates yet these are a group of people traveling together for some reason.

The Roger pirates were a 💯 already a crew at this point, maybe not as famous as they would in the future but still known.

My theory was that wether Rocks never intended to form the rocks crew as in recruit people beyond the current number of 4 until an encounter with Roger and the rise of the Roger pirates.

Before they were rocks pirates , they probably went with a different name. Or it was a cross guild of some sorts.
No they were obviously not a pirate crew, we know that Newgate was a member of a different crew when he was a teenager before joining Rocks but he probably wasn’t infamous nor had a bounty, so technically Whitebeard and I have a theory that Stussy was in that crew as well before they both left and they have been pirates longer than Rocks, while Rocks as a fighter is more experienced, I feel he was more of a former warrior king/soldier of a nation rather than a pirate.

Roger has formed his crew before Whitebeard set out, so yes the Roger pirates were formed before the Rocks pirates

50/50. As I said they could be a guild and not a pirate crew.

Roger Pirates couldn't match Rox lol. Roger was a rival to Rox, but it's clear Rox trumped Roger.
That’s not the point of the thread, learn how to read first before replying.

What I said is that the Roger pirates were formed before the Rocks pirates as an organization and so to rival the organization the Rocks pirates were formed and the result was an even stronger crew which is the Rocks

48 years ago which is the timeline in this flashback, Rocks had not formed his crew yet while Roger was already the captain of the Roger pirates at this point

You guys have the memory of a fish, Brook mentioned there was a rookie by the name Roger during his time meaning Roger pirates are more 50 years old. While Rocks became a fugitive 56 years ago, he did not form his crew yet even by 46 years ago

Roger formed his crew in his mid 20s so certainly way before Rocks formed his legendary crew. A reason for the forming could be Xebec finding out about the actual strength or history of the void century and the existence of Imu so the need for multiple strong individuals under him to achieve his goal.
